2013 ACS Chemistry Olympiad Cleveland Section
The local competition was held on March 16 at Cleveland State University. Dr. Anne O’Connor, the Chemistry Olympiad coordinator for the ACS Cleveland section , reported that more than 100 students from local high schools were in attendance for the local exam. Twelve students scored high enough on the local exam to qualify for the national exam which will be administered on April 12, 2013 at Cleveland State University. Congratulations to all of the students that participated in this year’s chemistry Olympiad. A special congratulations goes to the dedicated teachers that encourage their students to compete in the Chemistry Olympiad. Thank you to the students and teachers that make this program possible.

Results from the 2012 ACS High School Chemistry Olympiad
The Cleveland Section of American Chemical Society (ACS) held it’s annual local, high School Chemistry Olympiad on March 17th 2012, at Cleveland State University. Eighty-six students from ten local high schools competed in the preliminary examination. Eleven top scoring students from eight local high schools advanced to the National portion of the Olympiad.
The 2012 U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad took place on April 20th, 2012. This was an all day affair. Two written exams were administered in the morning, and a lab/practical took place in the afternoon. Exam responses were mailed promptly for scoring and ranking by ACS National.
