Registration for the 2023 Chemistry Olympiad is now open
The 55th Annual Chemistry Olympiad
Local Exam will be administered online on the ACS Learning Center on March 25 at 11:00 AM. Instructions on how to access the exam will be sent to you once you are registered.
Students must be registered by March 6, 2023.
We are pleased to announce the Cleveland Section of The American Chemical Society ( ACS ) will participate in the 2023 U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad (USNCO). The primary goals of this program are to stimulate interest and achievement in chemistry among high school students and to provide recognition of outstanding young chemistry students, teachers, and schools.
It is the responsibility of the Cleveland section to nominate students to take the USNCO National Examination. In order to identify these students, a preliminary, local Chemistry Olympiad will be conducted. The local exam will be administered, online, on March 25, 2023. The Local Section Exam will be offered virtually in 2023. The local exam will be administered on March 25. Parts 1, 2, and 3 of the national exam will be administered at Cleveland State University on Friday, April 21 at 9:00 AM. Results of the local examination will be sent to participating teachers by e-mail. Based on these results, the top ten students, with a maximum of two students from the same school, will have the privilege of taking the National Chemistry Olympiad Examination, Parts 1, 2, and 3 on April 21st. Students and their teachers will be notified if they are eligible to take the National Exam.

Following the National Exam, twenty students from the U.S. will be selected to attend a two-week study camp, June 4th to June 17th, to prepare for the international competition. Based on performance at the camp, four students will be selected to represent the United States in the International Competition, July 16th to July 25th.
