About the 2016 Symposium

The Chemistry Teaching Symposium at Cleveland State University offers an informal and relaxed forum for the teachers from both large lecture halls and small classrooms to meet, listen, and discuss both the successes and challenges of their experiences. The symposium is open to teachers and students from high schools, community colleges, liberal art colleges, and universities to attend and advance the teaching of introductory and advanced levels chemical concepts and applications. All are welcome. Registration fees will cover daily continental breakfast, lunch, and a Thursday evening wine social.
The fifth annual CSU spring chemistry teaching symposium will be held on March 17 and 18 in the newly restored Mather Mansion at Cleveland State University. The Activities of the symposium will include speakers, demonstrations, workshops, and posters which address our concerns to become more effective chemistry teachers.
For those wishing to present, please submit your abstract for the talk, poster, workshop, or demonstration by February 22, 2016. Please email abstracts to Dr. Jerry Mundell at j.mundell@csuohio.edu by December 11th2015, and indicate which day that you would prefer to present.
Suggested topics for submitted presentations include: effective large classroom teaching, technology in teaching, eLearning: hybrid and online, flipped classroom, inquiry methods in classroom and lab, preparatory chemistry courses, integrated lab courses, REEL lab courses, student evaluations, etc. For those wishing to make a presentation, indicate the day that you would prefer to present when you send your abstract via email.

Registration Fees
$50.00 per day registration fee or
$55.00 per day including all day pass to rec center.
Payments may be made online through Shop Net (you are redirected to ShopNet after submitting the registration form), by mail, or at the symposium.
